EDITOR’S NOTE: Here’s another Kickstarter project for your consideration. After learning more about this project, I give these guys an A+ for effort. Crowd-funding is a good way to find if there’s an audience for your book. There’s just a little time left in the campaign and they need your help. And, you’re supporting some local creative folk. Mike Wolfer is an industry veteran with a long list of accomplishments. American Mythology is a small comics publisher (right in our backyard) that’s done a good job with some licensed properties. Read below for more and click on the link for further details . . . . .
Hello, Kickstarter lurkers and social media link-followers! Have WE got a fun-filled, insanity-driven comic book for YOU!
That's right, it's called "The Filbert Factor," and it is one ridiculous ride directly into the heart of Crazy Town! "The Filbert Factor" is a full-color, 32-page comic book, and the brainchild of creator and writer Mike Wolfer. Set in the town of Turtleview, Filbert and his friends Cashew and Hazel are just ordinary 4th graders, but in this first outing, they'll find themselves thrust into the center of a real-life disaster movie when the Meowstorm, a gigantic storm filled with furious felines, rolls into town!
Now, here's the backstory about why we're here on Kickstarter looking to fund the book through your generous donations: You see, American Mythology Productions had this plan, to create a new comic series that would appeal to kids, adults, and everyone in between; a sarcastic, irreverent snapshot of what it's really like to be a kid. Mike Wolfer got right to work creating the characters and story, Disney animator Adrian Ropp designed the leads, and artist Horacio Domingues, colorist Jeremy Kahn, and letterer Natalie Jane got to work on the interiors.
Then we had a real brainstorm: Let's see if we can get the first issue approved as an official entry in the 2018 Free Comic Book Day event, thus reaching hundreds of thousands of potential readers and introducing them to the incredible characters we've created. Well, the Free Comic Book Day committee said, "Bah. We're not interested." Dang. So we listed the book in the distributor catalog, sure that retailers and comics readers would see "The Filbert Factor" as the next big thing that we feel that it is and order lots and lots of copies. And their response was, "Bah. We're not interested." Double-dang. So, the only way to show the world what we have and pay all of the bills associated with getting this piece of comic mayhem printed and into peoples hands is to turn to Kickstarter... And YOU!
What we're offering to you, the backer, are a bunch of super-cool, Filbert-related goods that are sure to be collector's items, beginning with the books themselves:
As we mentioned, the orders for the book were low... Really low... So we're giving you the opportunity to pick up not only the Kickstarter Edition of THE FILBERT FACTOR #1, but also the two cover variants that are going to be on sale in very small amounts in only the coolest, smartest, hippest comic book stores in the world (and if your local comic shop carries the book this coming May, tell them that we love them).
But you'll be getting more than just comic books when you become a backer. Oh, SO much more. So let's look at the backer levels, shall we? Go here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/882141158/the-filbert-factor-1-from-american-mythology-produ?ref=user_menu
