Pictured below are covers for AGE OF X-MAN ALPHA #1 and THE MARVELOUS X-MEN #1
EDITOR’S NOTE: I’ve mostly stayed away from the X-Men books (with some exceptions = first issues, mini-series, and a few special events) including Deadpool and Wolverine for more than 20 years now. Towards the end of the 1990’s I noted an overabundance of X-titles and frequent breaks from continuity - - making it hard to follow storylines unless you kept up with every book.
Since then, it’s only become worse. However, looking back THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE was one of the last mega-big events that I followed. I enjoyed the spin on mainstay characters, and the alternative X-universe storylines that only lasted 4 issues or so. It was fun while it lasted, and you didn’t need to read each mini-series to enjoy.
The upcoming AGE OF X-MAN gives me hope that we might see something like that again. So, without further ado —let’s learn some more about this straight from Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler, co-ordinators of the event. Special thanks to this dynamic duo for offering this advance look to me.
If you want to jump in on this event, you need to take action immediately. The final cut-off date (FOC) for the first essential AGE OF X-MAN: ALPHA issue is Monday, January 7. Call your local comic shop today! I’ve included the order date information for the other issues below.
Take it away, guys! . . . . . . . . . .
The Age of X-Man is upon us! Lonnie and Zac here, masterminds of the upcoming event.
We know better than anyone that sometimes comic book events can be tough to follow. We want to make this as easy as possible for you so you can make it easy for your readers.
Below are some questions that will help you understand what Age of X-Man is.
Age of X-Man FAQ
1. What the heck is it?
Age of X-Man is an X-Men event not unlike Age of Apocalypse. It’s a sprawling alternate universe comprised of 6 interconnected mini-series, an Alpha issue, and an Omega issue. It runs from January 30th to July 17th 2019.
2. What if I didn’t read all of Uncanny X-Men: Disassembled?
No problem! As long as you know who the X-Men are and can read, you will still understand and enjoy all the Age of X-Man titles.
3. Do I need to read every book that’s part of AoX to understand it?
Nope. The more titles you read, the richer your understanding of the world will be so we encourage it. But every series is designed to also function as a stand-alone book with its own beginning, middle, and end.
4. Do I need to read Age of X-Man: Alpha and Age of X-Man: Omega?
Yes! No matter which books you plan to follow the Alpha and Omega issues are key. Alpha functions as an essential introduction to the world. Omega will wrap everything up. FOC for the Alpha issue is Jan 7.
5. Will it replace all other X-Men titles like Age of Apocalypse?
No. Thankfully we’ve learned from the past. Many of your favorite X-Men titles are still sticking around through AoX.
6. Is it any good?
Hell yes. The creative teams are bringing all they have to these books. Readers haven’t seen a unified world like this since 1994… and even then they have no idea what they’re in store for.
