Summary from the Goodreads website . . . . .
It’s the same old story. Take a chance and pick up a hitchhiker. But only after midnight and only when you need some company. Of course, the hitchhiker will disappear. That’s the way the story goes, right? But this time you are the hitchhiker. And there’s a tunnel up ahead.
From the acclaimed Dutch horror author of HEX comes Thomas Olde Heuvelt's chilling short story "You Know How the Story Goes."

My review on the Goodreads website . . . .
Heard about this from a favorable review by Goodreads member Katie Gallagher, who recommended checking out the free story at Tor.com.
This was extremely creepy and unsettling, but I'm still glad I read it.
Heuvelt takes an urban myth about hitchhikers, adds some European flavoring, and spins it into his own fable featuring the hitchhiker this time instead of the driver.
So instead of a tale warning drivers about picking up hitchhikers, its' the reverse. I don't want to spoil it for you by telling anymore. It's a short story and won't take long to read.

And, if you find yourself having to hitchhike sometime, just don't accept a ride in any blue Prius.
You've been warned.
