New Genre "Archeopunk" Debuts In ARKWORLD, Read A Free Preview

Devil's Due premieres ambitious, genre-defining
ArkWorld comic series at AlienCon 2019
[DALLAS — October 3, 2019] This weekend at 2019's AlienCon Dallas, Devil's Due Comics publisher Josh Blaylock will unveil the official launch of ArkWorld, an ambitious series of 48-page comic books that fuses science fiction, fantasy, archaeology, and ancient — possibly alien-influenced — technology into an exciting new genre dubbed “archeopunk.” A free preview edition is now available at http://www.archeopunk.comwhich Blaylock describes as “a new site dedicated to archeopunk fiction at large, as well as the exploration of ancient lost civilizations, Earth’s mysterious megalithic structures, and evidence of worldwide cataclysms that challenge our beliefs of human beginnings.” ArkWorld Vol. 1 is slated for a spring 2020 release, with Vols. 2 and 3 arriving in winter 2020 and spring 2021.

To many, Blaylock is known for revitalizing the G.I. Joe franchise in the ‘00s, and inspiring elements of the hit film series that followed. He is currently developing Devil's Due's Mercy Sparx comic series for film with Assemble media. ArkWorld's announcement comes fresh on the heels of Devil's Due's Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis?, which became 2019's most talked-about comic upon its announcement earlier this year.

T
he ArkWorld series is the product of eight years of development and passionate research. "The story is set partly in the present, partly in what we know as the paleolithic era, and much, much earlier," Blaylock explains. "It takes the premise that everything we've been told about history prior to 5000 BC — that civilization only began 6000 to 7000 years ago — was wrong."

ArkWorld was created and designed by Blaylock, who is joined by illustrator Travis Hymel to bring to life these familiar — yet very different — worlds of the ancient past and present day. What can readers expect from the preview copy? "It's packed with ArkWorld mythology, story details, character profiles, preview art, variant covers, and more information on the burgeoning archeopunk fandom," Blaylock says.

Arkworld has been an amazing project to be a part of," adds Hymel. "It's been a fantastic experience bringing these characters to life, and taking on the challenge of infusing science into the tech, as well as every background."

In addition to AlienCon, Blaylock will be signing physical copies of the ArkWorld preview comic at
Ace Comicon (Oct 11 - 13), Baltimore Comic-Con (Oct. 18 - 20), GalaxyCon Louisville (Nov. 22 - 24), and Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (Feb. 28 - March 1, 2020).
