EDITOR’S NOTE: I’ve been following the newsletters of Australian comics creator RYAN K LINDSAY for more than a year now. You may recognize him from ETERNAL (Image Comics) and a non-fiction book on DAREDEVIL from Sequart Publications. He’s usually involved in something creative and outside the parameters of standard comics. I loved the idea behind SKYSCRAPER and made a small pledge ($10) to help see it completed. The Kickstarter is now fully funded, and you have a short time left to get a copy before the campaign ends (see links below). From here, I’ll let Ryan tell you more about it in his own words . . . . . . . . . . From the desk of RYAN K LINSDAY. . . . . . . . . . I seriously have some of the world's finest readers and support crew in the whole indie comics environment.
SKYSCRAPER INTO THE FINAL 48 HOURS ON KICKSTARTER!: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rkl/skyscraper-a-newspaper-sized-mystery-comicAs my latest comic on Kickstarter closes its campaign in about 48 hours, I'm thankful for those who dig what I [and my collaborators] do. If you want to join in, hit the link above and secure your copy of SKYSCRAPER now before the campaign ends and you miss out.
SKYSCRAPER was met with a bonanza of a first day - my highest funded Day One on Kickstarter ever. Since then, we've met funding in the first week, continued to grow backers/readers, and today we hit $7000, making this my most financially successful Kickstarter ever. All because people dig this idea I had with Mitchell Collins, Simon Robins, and Dan Hill to make a one-shot where every page has the same layout - a front profile shot of a building, and from there we use the gutters to play with time and character and information through panels. ![]() It's been a delight to see reaction to this funky comic, which we are printing at newspaper size, land interest and eyeballs [and a few open wallets]. People have stepped up to rep us in their newsletters, on their sights, and in numerous supportive tweets and social media type klaxons. The campaign has unlocked stretch goals, we've been featured on The Beat, we've been backed by Bendis!, and we're not even done. But we will be done in just 2 days. As such, I didn't want you to miss out. I know what social media is like now, I log off as much as possible, for as long as possible, so it's easy to miss what people are doing - so this is my last inbox slide to remind you I'm out here with quality people making independent comics. If you've got the hankering to support, that's awesome, and if you just wanna throw our link out on your own socials, that's A+, too. I look forward to ending this campaign, it's been a blast, but I'll look forward to not having this specific monkey on my back non-stop for a little while - until the fulfilment phase rolls around :] BACK SKYSCRAPER DURING THE FINAL 48 HOURS ON KICKSTARTER! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rkl/skyscraper-a-newspaper-sized-mystery-comic
We look forward to getting this awesome comic into your hands! ![]() |
