The 1,000 COMICS CHALLENGE, Part Six

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #148: An oldie but a goodie. During Inferno, zombie Ned Leeds comes back to harass Betty Brandt. 3 Stars.

BATMAN #14: Rooftops, Part 1. When we first knew for sure that Bats and Cats had something going on. 4 Stars.

BATMAN #25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32: The War Of Jokes And Riddles story, which ends with Bruce proposing to Selina. Some great moments throughout the long saga. 4 Stars.

BATMAN #33, 34: The Rules Of Engagement, Part 1 & 2: Somehow I misplaced my copies of the rest of the story! Batman and Catwoman trace a suspect back to the lair of Talia Al Ghul. Great fluid art by Joelle Jones, great banter between Bats and Cats per Tom King 4 Stars.

X-O MANOWAR #1 (Valiant, March 2020) Dennis "Hopeless" Hallum brings Aric down to earth in this new version of X-O Manowar. The sentient armor suit has more street smarts. Nice banter between the two. 3.5 Stars.

BASKETFUL OF HEADS #5 of 6 (DC/Hill House) Secrets behind the coastal village are revealed. Heads will roll. 4.5 Stars.

THE BATMAN'S GRAVE #6 of 12 (DC) Great choreographed fight scenes lushly illustrated by Bryan Hitch. Warren Ellis is slowly writing an engaging detective adventure. 4 Stars.

DRAGONFLY AND DRAGONFLYMAN #5 of 5 (Ahoy) The wrap up of the dual adventures on Earth Alpha and Earth Omega. A retro-look at superheroes with a sense of humor. 4 Stars.

THE D WARD #2 (Keenspot, December 2019) The lunatics are taking over the asylum! 3.5 Stars

DAPHNE BYRNE #3 (DC/Hill House) If you think Daphne has troubles, her mother really steps in it this issue. Chilling art from the great Kelley Jones. 5 Stars.

FOLKLORDS #5 (Boom) A fun spin on fantasy by Matt Kindt and Matt Smith. Instead of a human entering a whimsical world, this is about a folklore being trying to enter our world. This is the wrap up issue. 4 Stars.

THE DOLLHOUSE FAMILY #5 (DC/Hill House) All the Hill House titles have one thing in common: really creepy. The backstory behind the demented doll house gets some explanation here. 5 Stars.

4 more. Are we getting close yet? As long as I'm reading quality books like these four, then I'll keep going . . . .

INVISIBLE KINGDOM #10 (Dark Horse/Berger Books) In my opinion, the best science fiction comic currently on the stands. How long can you survive outside an airlock without equipment? 5 Stars.

KILLADELPHIA #4 (Image) The vampire outbreak gets serious this issue, and things don't look up for the good guys. 5 Stars.

THE LOW LOW WOODS #4 (DC/Hill House) "The deer creature. The men with no skin. Girls with sinkholes in their torsos. The memory lapses. These sorts of thing don't just happen . . ." 4 Stars.

PANDEMICA #4 (IDW) No, not a cash-in to the current problem. This series started 2019. A baby could be the source of a genuine vaccine for every known disease. On the other hand . . . . 5 Stars
