Joker Final Trailer (2019) | Movieclips Trailers

Stay-At-Home Theater: JOKER on HBO. My second viewing of this film, the first time was in a theater in December 2019. It's surely the darkest of the dark DC movies and will be hard to top -  hopefully nobody will try to outdo it. It's incredibly disturbing, but the performance by Phoenix is so incredible that you can't look away. You really don't want to miss his portrayal. You just have to prepare yourself for the unsettling moments. It's so dark because it's so authentic in its portrayal of mental illness and shines a spotlight on how current treatment methods or lack of them may be due for a reappraisal. I have no doubts that early childhood trauma can scar a person for life, and the film touches on that aspect. While we certainly live in a divided country, I hope we never get to the level seen in this film - -  although an increase in extreme situations may bring us frightening close.  A dearth of listening leads to a lack of understanding, which leads to . . . . . . .
