Tales Of Censorship From GARY SCOTT BEATTY And Other Nuggets

A Gods of Aazurn printed collection is possible in the near future, so I am revamping some of the early GOA art. See inks and photoshop layers as I add detail to a Gods of Aazurn cover, visible to everyone, here on Patron.

If you're interested in seeing Photoshop layers pictured like this on Patreon, let me know and I'll do it more often.

First I was put in Facebook jail, now this! Webtoons decided to remove the Gods of Aazurn episode The Pit for "violating our Community Policy due to nudity and explicit sexual content."

Never mind that what's being pictured is a murder, not a sexual act. Well, the guy is handcuffed to the bed, so the assumption is she tricked him into kinky sex to make the murder easier. Actually that backside is pretty provocative. OK, OK, I'll change it.

I wonder if someone complained? I launched that chapter way back in July 2018.

No problem fixing this, adding clothes doesn't affect the story.

To read the free Gods of Aazurn webcomic, click "Webcomic" at StrangeHorror.com. No telling what they'll remove next. If they decide to block "scary" like Facebook has with my Gods of Aazurn stuff, I'm doomed!

Release of the smart and stylish looking The French Dispatch, directed by Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums), has been postponed indefinitely by Disney. It was to be in theaters last Friday.

Frankly, I would not have gone to a theater to see it at this time in the pandemic, but was looking forward to some kind of on-demand, watch at home option.

You can laugh at the the trailer here, with a cast that includes Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson. Yes, Covid deaths are tragic, frustrating and heartbreaking, but damn, I miss theater movies.

Also delayed are Mulan, Star Wars, Avatar, and other Disney properties. I'm relieved to find the corporation is, at least for now, looking out for theaters, instead of bypassing them altogether with a new distribution model.

On the other hand, comic companies seem more than willing to sidestep comic shops if they can. Once I feel comfortable doing it in person, I'm looking forward to offering my favorite comic shops Aazurn Publishing assistance.

TubiTV.com continues to offer some excellent horror and sci-fi movies most people have already seen. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy them again, free with ads.

In Resident Evil (2002), a virus has mutated the staff of a secret laboratory facility into zombies. This movie, based on the popular video game (which I've never played), features one of the most diabolically interesting and coldly terrifying laser traps ever filmed. And Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element).

Resident Evil is here on TubiTV.

In a world with too many Star Trek parodies to stomach, Galaxy Quest (1999) does it right. Ham actors in a short lived but much loved TV show are mistaken for heroes by visiting space aliens who whisk them off to save their world.

Star Trek and its fans are easy for cheap gags, but Galaxy Quest shoots higher. Writers David Howard and Robert Gordon are to be commended for understanding this fan world and this genre of sci-fi, giving us a story with love for the source material, fully formed characters, and themes -- just as Star Trek episodes had themes.

Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman and Tony Shalhoub play it over the top, and, when it finally becomes serious, with feeling.

Galaxy Quest is here on TubiTV.

The crazies get all the coverage on social media, but remember that most of us are not crazy. Take care of yourself that those you love. Quietly fight the power until it's time to get loud, then get real loud. You are not alone.

In glorious service to our Aazurn overlords,
Gary Scott Beatty
