Gary Scott Beatty Continues To Find STRANGE HORROR - And Shares It!

I'm still working up full splash pages for Gods of Aazurn: Army of the Dead. Here, Death in a Tuxedo is reading the Bible in a cemetery. This will be for his soliloquy that ushers in the end of all things.

He started out in early stories as the comedy relief narrator, as in '50s EC comics like Tales from the Crypt, and their inspiration, radio plays like Inner Sanctum. As time went on I wrote him more grim, like the a Shakespeare character introducing a tragic play. To see his metamorphosis click the "Webcomics" link at StrangeHorror.com.

Eventually I'd like to tell his story. His character relates to one already part of GOA canon. (If you'd like to guess who it is, I'll let you know if you're right.)

By the way, if you'd like to enjoy Inner Sanctum Mysteries and the show's host, Raymond, you can listen to many of the radio plays free here at the Internet Archive.

Moody gothic horror can only work with superior acting, and that's what we're treated to in An American Haunting (2005), with Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek, James D'Arcy and Rachel Hurd-Wood.

Extreme horror fans who may call this film boring are just too ADHD to settle back and enjoy a beautifully filmed (if you like eerie), subtly acted, single twist thriller.

Forget the "true story" B.S. and just enjoy dropping into one of those worlds where thunderstorms are constant, dolls are both comforting and creepy, and family curses manifest in angry entities. Adapted and directed (always a good sign) by Courtney Solomon.

(Also, the coolest horse drawn carriage crash ever filmed.)

This is now on my list for my wife to bravely sit through during Halloween horror movie month. Recommended.

An American Haunting is free with ads on TubiTV or free on IMDBtv here.

We're coming up on Halloween season, the most wonderful time of the year! I'll be pulling out my paper maché monsters and setting up our haunted garage. Pictured is a monster (the one on the right). We'll hand out age appropriate comic books (no Gary Scott Beatty tales in THAT bunch).

Take care of yourself and those you love. Make time for the loud and the quiet. Every moment counts.

In glorious service to our Aazurn overlords,
Gary Scott Beatty
