IDW’s Show-Stopping Highlights from New York Comic Con x MCM Comic Con Metaverse In Case You Missed It, IDW Shines a Spotlight on the Best Moments, Secret Reveals, and New Project Announcements
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 12, 2020) – Proving that there’s a worthy substitute for an in-person convention, the 2020 New York Comic Con x MCM Comic Con Metaverse event brought enjoyment to fans worldwide… and IDW was thrilled to be part of the fun! With all that hooplah, even the most devoted IDW fan may have missed a news bite or two. For your enjoyment, IDW is happily sharing its look back at the insightful panels and new project announcements from the event.
Kicking off the show on Thursday, IDW announced that Carol Danvers, the strongest Avenger, would appear in a brand-new Marvel Action: Captain Marvel series, the latest high-flying adventure in IDW’s line of comics for middle grade readers! Following the critical success of IDW’s prior Marvel Action: Captain Marvel series, writer Sam Maggs returns to helm the 2021 title, launching in January. The first two-part story will feature art by talented newcomer Isabel Escalante, with issues #3-5 illustrated by returning artist extraordinaire, Sweeney Boo. Click here for more information! On Thursday afternoon, Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez welcomed fans to step inside Keyhouse and discover new secrets from their beloved comic book series, Locke & Key! In a conversation hosted by series editor Chris Ryall, the talented twosome discussed their work on the current ...In Pale Battalions Go… and upcoming Locke & Key / The Sandman Universe: Hell & Gone miniseries. Be sure to visit the live virtual NYCC panel, “IDW Presents: The World of Locke & Key” for the scoop! Also, in surprise Locke & Key product news, the team revealed that Skelton Crew -- the studio that has manufactured over 30 replicas of the magical keys from Locke & Key -- has licensed the Key to Hell, originally depicted in the pages of The Sandman and as seen in the upcoming Hell & Gone crossover, to be released in tandem with the series. On Friday, the “IDW Presents: Sonic The Hedgehog Comics” virtual panel brought Evan Stanley(writer/artist of the ongoing Sonic The Hedgehog series) together with Ian Flynn and Jack Lawrence (of the Sonic: Bad Guys miniseries) to discuss everything Sonic! Alongside editor David Mariotte and SEGA® of America’s Licensing Manager, Michael Cisneros, the panelists gave insider info on the Blue Blur… with perhaps the standout revelation being fans’ first look at Belle, a character who brings a new twist to Sonic’s world: a wooden robot! To round out Friday, IDW announced its 2021 plans to honor Hasbro’s 25th anniversary of Transformers: Beast Wars with the launch of an all-new ongoing Beast Wars comic book series! Written by Erik Burnham (Transformers/Ghostbusters) with art by longtime Transformers artist Josh Burcham(whose credits include IDW’s ongoing series, Galaxies, the Wreckers saga, and much more), the new series will launch in February with a #1 issue containing 30 pages of story and bonus content.
