10 YEARS TO DEATH graphic novella by Aaron Douglas, writer and Cliff Richards, artist. (AfterShock, September 2021).
Summary on the Goodreads website . . . . .
The one-shot is based on the true story of the strange connection between a prison guard and a jailed mass murderer.
My Four-Star Review on the Goodreads website . . . . .
October is the perfect month for a good ghost story, this one inspired by allegedly true events (or perhaps tall tales told to young impressionable minds).
The AfterShock promotional tag for this one is spot-on: "The Shawshank Redemption meets The Sixth Sense.” So is the succinct back-page summary: “A newly-hired prison guard, a notorious mass-murderer finally incarcerated for his crimes, and the death that binds them together.”
The less said about this prestige format, large panel 40-page spellbinder of a tale the better, so as not to spill the beans. If you enjoy a good ghost story with a twisty Twilight-Zone atmosphere you'll want to pick up this book.
Aaron Douglas, best known as a television and film actor, weaves a captivating story that builds suspense and anxiety page after page. The wrong choice of artist to illustrate this tale could have reduced the content to average, but Cliff Richard's moody art and Guy Major's brilliant choice of colors and shades bring it all to horrifying life.
