Lynching In Shelbyville, a collaborative project between CE Founder, writer and instructor, Andy Schmidt, artist Jinx (above) and the Shelby Community (Kentucky) remembrance Project Coalition (SCRPC) was formally presented to the public through the Sentinel-News on Wednesday February 9.
Schmidt says “I'm walking out to the bridge where the lynchings depicted in the story took place. It's a little less than a mile from my house. It was the site of more than one lynching and now, over a hundred years later, it's part of a park and there's a really lovely walking path through the woods that goes under it. My wife and kids and I walk our dog underneath it regularly during most of the year, but every time we go under it, I know what took place on it in 1911.” |
