SEVEN TO ETERNITY, VOLUME 1: THE GOD OF WHISPERS by Rick Remender, writer and Jerome Opena, artist. (Image Comics, February 2017) Trade Paperback, 128 pages. ISBN # 1434300619 / 9781534300613

Summary on the Goodreads website . . . . .

The God of Whispers has spread an omnipresent paranoia to every corner of the kingdom of Zhal; his spies hide in every hall spreading mistrust and fear.

Adam Osidis, a dying knight from a disgraced house, must choose between joining a hopeless order of magical warriors and mercenaries in their desperate bid to free their world of the evil God, or accepting the God’s promise to give Adam everything he's ever dreamed of.

All men have surrendered their freedom for fear; now one last free man must choose between the fate of the world and his own heart's desire.

Writer Rick Remender re-teams with collaborators Jerome OpeƱa (Uncanny X-Force, Fear Agent) and Matt Hollingsworth (Tokyo Ghost, Wyches) to take readers on a hard road through the strange and mind-bending fantasy world of Zhal.

My Two-Star Review on the Goodreads website . . . . .

While I adore the incredible art and coloring and the fantastic world-building, I just could not get into this story, became bored at the mid-point of this four-issue beginning to the series, and read the remainder half-heartedly.

The main character and his father were just not credible to me, both were freaking contradictions. Like father, like son, just Remender working around that old cliche/myth I suppose. Yes, this is about fear, and oppression, and undeserved bad reputations, and choices between family and salvation, and sacrifices, and more . . . . but the story-telling just did not grab my attention.
