ASTRONAUT DOWN HOUSE AD
WHERE STARSHIPS GO TO DIE HOUSE AD

The first full week of June brings an abundance of AfterShock riches (helped in part by the occasional unexpected shipping delay, of course)! Tomorrow we'll see the debut of both James Patrick and Rubine’s ASTRONAUT DOWN (with colors by Valentina Briški and letters from Carlos M. Mangual) and Mark Sable and Alberto Locatelli’s WHERE STARSHIPS GO TO DIE (with colors by Juancho! and letters from Rob Steen) – two intensely plotted, original takes on science fiction mixed with horror. Or is it horror mixed with science fiction? You be the judge, but In any case, this is your invitation to double your dosage of Reading Dangerously!

ASTRONAUT DOWN #1

Writer: James Patrick
Artist: Rubine

NEW SERIES!

Douglas Spitzer wants to be one of the “astronauts” selected for the crucial Mission Politzer. And just like astronauts like Buzz Aldrin and Sally Ride, Douglas is brave, adaptable, and self-sacrificing. He’s one of the program’s best candidates.

But if he qualifies, Douglas won’t be traveling through space; he’ll be launched into alternate realities on a desperate mission to save Earth from a horrific crisis that has our world on the brink of extinction. Unfortunately, it’s a mission where everything will go wrong, where Douglas’s training and very humanity will be put to the test, and where a deep-seeded secret could sabotage everything.

Someone has crawled out of their fifty-year old grave...someone that threatens to tear down the carefully constructed lives of ex-gangsters Sir Frank Babbs and Terry Larkin. CHICKEN DEVIL VOL1: UNDER PRESSURE

CHICKEN DEVIL VOL 1: UNDER PRESSURE

Mitchell Moss no longer gives a cluck.

Mitchell Moss is about as regular as it gets. He’s married with two children and co-owns a successful chain of Memphis Hot Chicken restaurants. It’s not the life that screams hero/vigilante...until he discovers that his business partner is in bed with the mob and owes them $2 million. Unfortunately, Mitch is ill-equipped to be a badass – he’s just a guy who makes really good chicken. Can he protect his family from cold-blooded gangsters? Absolutely not.

But maybe the CHICKEN DEVIL can...

Writer Brian Buccellato (Detective ComicsThe FlashWitchblade) and artist Hayden Sherman (COLD WAR, MARY SHELLEY MONSTER HUNTER) serve up a darkly comedic crime drama that's juicy, tender and finger-lickin' hilarious. This 120-page volume collects the entire series, issues #1-4.

...a really solid read that takes a familiar concept and adds some interesting twists and turns to the story...[E]ntertaining with some fun characters and a dynamic that’s unexpected that adds to the experience.” – Brett Schenker, Graphic Policy
