LIVE IN CINCINNATI:
HorrorHound Weekend starts today!

HofbrauhausI JUST GOT INTO CINCINNATI
a little while ago (Sept. 8)  because I will be appearing all weekend at the annual HorrorHound Weekend convention! I'll be setting up my booth in the morning... right now, I'm writing this quick newsletter while enjoying a plate of bratwurst and sauerkraut at the Hofbrauhaus, one of my favorite spots in Cincy! First time I've gotten to be back out on their patio in probably 10 years!

It's going to be an awesome weekend at HorrorHound at the Sharonville Convention Center with celebrities like Ron Perlman, Doug Jones, Anthony Michael Hall, Quinn Lord, Dana Delorenzo and Ian McCollulloch from Lucio Fulci's Zombie!   If you're a fan of Hocus Pocus or John Carpenter's The Thing, there are a bunch of actors from those movies coming for "reunions." So come on out if you're near Cincinnati!

LIBRARY THINGS:
Upcoming Berwyn and Glen Ellyn, IL Events

I WILL ALSO BE APPEARING later this month on September 24th at a Local Author event hosted by the Berwyn Public Library (Svengoolie fans know all about Berwyn!) It's outdoors, so fingers crossed that it doesn't rain - books and rain don't mix.

And on October 21, the Glen Ellyn Library is hosting a truly innovative Halloween event called the "Haunted Library." I will be there with other Chicago authors, including Daniel Kraus, as Glenbard West Theatre students and library staff transform different rooms of the library into "scenes" from our books and stories.  It should be really fun to see!

MORE REVIEWS:
Five Deaths For Seven Songbirds Needs You!

Five Deaths for Seven SongbirdsI HAVE BEEN SO EXCITED about the reception Five Deaths for Seven Songbirds has received from readers! I wish that more magazines had picked it up for review, but the reader comments have been awesome!  I have to share the latest Five Deaths GoodReads review, because it's the kind of review that every author hopes for:

"This book is magic. I was cast under its spell of murder, mystery, and music. It got me thinking of jazz, and I wondered just what music Mr. Everson was listening to as he wrote this. But this is more than a mere mystery/horror novel. It is a love letter to the horror films of the 70s and 80s. It is a love letter to really good mysteries. It is a love letter to jazz and everything that these three things entail. The best part of this book is that it is not covered in buckets of blood. There is just enough blood at each murder to make your imagination take off like a bullet train to the dread recesses of your mind.
I give this one 5 bookmarks out of 5!"

If you've read the novel and enjoyed it, please drop your star ratings and reviews on AmazonB&N and/or Goodreads, I'd really, really appreciate it!

I was hoping to be able to make an announcement about my next couple of book projects in this newsletter... but... I'm still finalizing some details so I can't say anything just yet.  But I am itching to let you know! So look for some "New Book" news in the next edition, which hopefully will be in your mail soon.

Until then...avoid knife-wielding black-gloved killers!

Dark Dreams,
John
