GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY on Disney+ Streaming Service: Wretched
Excess kind of sums it up. Over the top. Too many stupid jokes and scenes.
So many crazy special effects to make you numb to them and diminishing
their impact. At one time I wanted to see this in theaters. So glad I didn't, and
was able to watch over two consecutive nights. Too long. Plenty of scenes
that could easily have been cut to get the length under two hours.
I realize that many versions of Marvel characters have to be updated and
modernized for the movies, but I absolutely hate the way they portray both
Adam Warlock and The High Evolutionary here - - two classic characters
with lots of story potential - - just wasted here.
Also, don't take your kids to see this. While it does have an endearing portrayal
of Rocket Raccoon and his origin story, it also features animal torture and death.
What was director James Gunn thinking? TWO AND ONE-HALF STARS.
