MONSIEUR SPADE on AMC: Just finished watching this six-part mini-series.
Love the way it recreated the world of Dashiel Hammett's classic pulp detective
Sam Spade and transported him to France and retirement. Still, can't stop
him from getting in the middle of a complicated and convoluted plot.
The directors put a neat noir spin on this. It's fascinating to watch.
Also confusing. An effort was made in the final episode to explain it all,
but it left many gaps and unanswered questions. If you like old-fashioned
hard-boiled detective yarns, then it's worth staying with it. FOUR STARS.
SYNOPSIS:Sam Spade (Clive Owen) is back for a brand-new chapter. When six beloved nuns are brutally murdered at the local convent, secrets emerge and new leads are established. Turns out, the murders are somehow connected to a mysterious child who is believed to possess great powers.
