THE KILLER movie on Netflix: A methodical slowburn of an action flick,
which makes it noticeable for the styling and staging. Not without it's share
of violence. The story of a business-man who's extremely good at what he
does until one day when he slips up and his world turns upside down, causing
him to reflect upon what he's been doing while he continues to go about his work in
methodical, unemotional fashion. He just happens to be a killer-for-hire.
Directed adeptly by David Fincher (of FIGHT CLUB fame), this may be his least controversial film.
Michael Fassbender in the lead role makes the most of it: one-note, purposeful,
talking to himself and reminding him and us of his regular objectives: work up
the plan, don't stray, don't improvise, don't show empathy, don't get emotional.
All the while, he slowly starts to bend his rules, and the final scenes provide a twist.
Worth staying with it. FOUR STARS.
Synopsis:After a fateful near miss, an assassin battles his employers — and himself — on an international hunt for retribution he insists isn't personal.
