Book Review of THREE INCH TEETH by C.J. Box

THREE INCH TEETH by C.J. Box  (Random House, February 27, 2024) Paperback, large print, 432 pages. ISBN # 9780593862339 / 0593862333

Synopsis on the Goodreads website:

Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett faces two different kinds of rampaging beasts--one animal, one human--in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C.J. Box.

A rogue grizzly bear has gone on a rampage--killing, among others, the fiancee of Joe's daughter. At the same time, Dallas Cates, who Joe helped lock up years ago, is released from prison with a list of six names tattooed on his skin. He wants revenge on the people who sent him the people he blames for the deaths of his entire family and the loss of his reputation and property.

Targeted are a judge, the county prosecutor, his lawyer, a prison guard--and both Nate Romanowski and Joe Pickett. Using the grizzly attacks as cover, Cates devises a method of violence identical to the bear killings and sets out to methodically check off his list.

My Four-Star Review on the Goodreads website . . . . .

This is the third novel by C.J. Box that I have read, and the second novel featuring Game Warden Joe Pickett, a wonderful character creation.

Box knows how to tell an engaging story, providing plenty of thrills and suspense along the way.

He creates characters that will go beyond empathetic and start to feel like family. You'll live the book in their skin. He's also not afraid to put his characters in fatal situations at risk of offending regular readers. I was shocked by some of the things that happened here.

If you seek some entertaining escapist entertainment that won't insult your sensibilities, this is your ticket. Recommended.

I would almost go as far as to say this is one of his best novels, but I have many more to read before I'm qualified to make that claim.
