IN A VIOLENT NATURE (2024), featured on JOE BOB BRIGG'S LAST
DRIVE-IN MOVIE on Shudder TV: Not an exceptional slasher movie, as
things go but a decent effort that pays respect to the genre while trying to
create an iconic new character. I don't think they succeeded in that, but who
knows - since this made a $4.2 million box office with limited release.
For one, that movie title doesn't resonate and won't be memorable. Two,
the slasher is part supernatural creature - which makes him less scary.
Still, the cinematography in Northern Ontario is awesome to view, and the
special effects are creative and gory.
The best thing was watching this with INTRUDER as a double-bill while
Joe Bob Briggs features the 23 essential elements of slasher films as well
as a history of the genre during breaks in the viewing. Great for trivia buffs.
