Video: ROGER CORMAN, POPE OF POP CINEMA

I watched this short documentary (on the TCM/Turner Classic Movie channel) about the career of legendary film director/producer Roger Corman, who  also served as a mentor and offered early directing and learning opportunities to a large assortment of renowned film-makers of today, including Francis Ford Coppola, Joe Dante, James Cameron, Ron Howard, Martin Scorcese, and others. He also helped jump start the career of Jack Nicolson and showcased the talents of Vincent Price.

I recall watching several of Corman's adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe during my youth, and being enchanted by the film images and sets.  Click the link below to watch the trailer . . . .

Corman was also known as the king/master of low budget film-making. His films always looked more expensive than the cost to produce. Here's another short documentary about his methods. Click the next link . . . .

Never lost money on a film
