Comics Review: IRON MAN: LEGACY VOLUME ONE

IRON MAN: LEGACY VOLUME 1 (Marvel Comics, April 2010) by Fred Van Lente, writer and Steve Kurth, artist.

Summary from the Goodreads website . . . . .

The WAR OF THE IRON MEN! Tony Stark's fears are realized when stolen Iron Man technology is used for ethnic cleansing in a civil war-ravaged land. But to stop it he must battle Radioactive Man, Titanium Man and the Crimson Dynamo!

My review from the Goodreads website . . . . .

Great start to the series with a topical story. Advances in technology always seem to be manipulated, adapted and weaponized for military use.

The Iron Man tech is hacked and used in a genocidal race war between two mythical Balkan countries. Tony Stark/Iron Man is understandably

upset and intervenes despite warnings from the U.S. government not to get involved (pick your contemporary dictator-sanctioned homicide that ends up being overlooked or minimized by the federal government for example).

Before "War Of The Iron Men", the first story arc captured in this first volume, ends - - things escalate and involve Doctor Doom, an army of Iron Man clones/doombots, the Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, the Radioactive Man and Dreadknight.

Writer Van Lente manages to keep everything moving along while getting readers to empathize with the poor affected countryfolk and detailing Stark's angst. The art is realistic and captivating. A damn good read.
