Gary Scott Beatty's Column: THE HEALING

EDITOR'S NOTE:  We now turn over this space to infrequent columnist/contributor Gary Scott Beatty for his observations and comments . . . . . . .

What an incredible lineup of talent! Terry Cronin's The Healing hits Kickstarter Saturday. Yes, you want this!

Ten different all-star writer/artist teams include Mike Baron (Nexus, The Punisher), John Taddeo (Zoom Suit), Frank Fosco (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Drew Geraci (JLA), Jack Herbert (Superman Wonder Woman), Barry Kitson (Empire, Doctor Strange), Val Mayerik (Howard the Duck, Man-Thing), David Williams (Batman, Uncanny X-Force) and more. MORE!

Imagine a cult is taking over the country, and the mind-numbed automatons who are members of this cult follow an incredibly charismatic leader who wears a mask. They promise they have solutions to all of your problems and will make you whole. They call themselves The Healing.

Yes, I am putting this book together for Terry.

I'm entertained by Sabrina, part 3, episode 1, on Netflix, but torn. Love the "quest" stuff, but, really, shouldn't we expect MORE interesting graphics from scenes of Hell? Let's spend some money on backgrounds here, people, it's the age of special effects.

The Satan costume is looking pretty good now. I'm digging that they've moved beyond the school and I hope they don't get bogged down there in later episodes. It's OK to focus on personalities, the writing is solid, the acting works well. Come on, though, this is HELL! I get more visual satisfaction from '70s Doctor Who.

Speaking of Hell, I canceled the Hell's Gate art print Kickstarter. Thank you so much for your support!

It was a grand experiment for me to offer a single piece of art. The print was just not finding its audience.

Gotta love Kickstarter, though -- where else could a micro-business like mine conduct worldwide audience research like this print? I remember the days of printing something first and hauling it around to conventions before realizing it's just not the thing people want.

If you are also experiencing the frozen hell we call winter, you may enjoy running this on your big screen TV: 10 hours of crackling fireplace. I've had this going quite a bit. No ads in the middle, no music, long enough to (nearly) get me through a day of work, and a mesmerizing glow. Grab it from YouTube here.

An huge honking digital fireplace? Yes, treat yourself, you deserve it.

In glorious service to our Aazurn overlords,
Gary Scott Beatty
